Rambling is popular around Rotstein and the local walking club have built a traditional wooden hut with a fine view over the engine shed.


Every German layout has to have at least one P8!  This class was introduced by the Prussian State Railways in 1906 and eventually over 3,700 of these locos were built.  This Fleischmann model is No. 38 2609 which has been modified with an ex Kriegslok tender and Witte smoke deflectors.


215 031-6 passes the loco depot before entering the station.


A Class 94 0-10-0 tank on a freight.  This Prussian design was in service until 1974 and 1,242 were built.


The ruins of Rotstein castle are a popular picnicking spot.


Farming keeps the Weber family busy all day long.


My oldest loco, a Fleischmann class 52 2-10-0.  Bought secondhand in 1975 (and it still runs!).

Attending to her greenhouses keeps Frau Knopf, the station masters wife, busy.


The rowing boats on the River Rotbach are popular in the summer months.
