The wheel is complete except for the wooden paddles.
The makers name appears at several positions on the wheel.
The adjacent drum would have been used to access the underground levels. A haulage wire would have run from the drum over a simple mining headgear structure above the shaft.
Between the wheel and the drum is a clutch to engage the drum. The handle to operate the clutch has broken off.
