Rhyl & District Model Railway Club

Our Christmas Exhibition, 12th December 2009

2009's Charity Exhibition was held in aid of the Ty Gobaith children's charity.  As we had to move from our traditional exhibition hall, the exhibition was held in two adjacent halls at the back of Prestatyn parish church.  The following photos show the layouts which were exhibited together with some brief details of the layouts themselves.  Details of the cheque presentation here.

Charleroi, 5.5mm =1 foot scale

Charleroi in Belgium had an extensive network of metre gauge tramways in the 1960's.  This layout depicts the layout of the system outside the main railway station.

Chederall, 'OO'

This fictional layout by Doug Pritchard is based on tramways which could have existed in Cheshire and Derbyshire in former years.

Classic 'O' gauge

The classic O gauge layout featured six circuits of track around which the collection could be seen dashing along throughout the day.  A Youtube video of it may be watched here

Dalton le Dale - 'OO'

Dalton le Dale is a well detailed G.W.R. terminus in 'OO' gauge

Dockside junction - 'OO'

Club member Trevor Jones built this modern image 'OO' terminus layout, with the 'N' gauge on the top level intended to give a sense of distance.

Seabank - G Scale

This huge layout by club members gives some insight into the potential for 'G' scale garden layouts.

Llamedos 'O' gauge

This layout has been vastly improved upon since its last appearance at 2008's show.

Murphys End 'OO'

This is the clubs Junior Members layout with a modern day terminus depicted.

New Pandora and Geirionydd tramway, O=16.5 scale

This Welsh lead mine layout by Phil Shaw, Brian Orton and Lee Shaw continues to impress with its fine attention to detail and quirky selection of rolling stock.

The shunting challenge 'OO'

A fiendish 'have a go' layout by Mike Williams, pick a number and then shunt that vehicle into the station platform.  But beware of the hidden traps!

Southall 'N' gauge

This layout was donated to the club some years ago and has since been extensively refurbished.

Wild Creek Lumber, On30 scale

Chris Wild's attention to detail always makes this American logging railway a show stopper
